In Japan, players will not be able to have a casino until 2020

Japanese players are going to be disappointed. Although land-based casinos will exist in the country, they will not be able to play there until 2020. This means that casinos should not be relied on for the Olympics. Yet two years ago the government was talking about an opening before the 2020 Olympics.

Casinos are not a priority

The authorities have indeed announced that the casinos will not open during the Olympic Games. For Japan, land-based casinos are not their priority. For now, the country is still working on other issues. A bill has already been submitted to the assembly, but so far no study has been made. Reason mentioned: This is not a priority and this project requires a long study and therefore a lot of time.

For now, the issue of casinos will not be dealt with before 2016. Therefore, if the study does not begin until this year in addition to the work, it is certain that no casino will see the light of day before 2020. For Grant Govertsen, the next deadline may be 2022. That will be the earliest date.

Two texts to launch the project

For now, we’ll just have to wait. To be able to set up the project, 2 texts are necessary each bearing the respective name: IR Promotion Bill and IR Implementation Bill. Each text has a specific purpose. The first will be used to decriminalize casinos and the second will cover all the information necessary for operators to put in place an adequate strategy.

It must be said that this project already has its interested like Sheldon Adelson of Las Vegas Sands. He is betting on originality and intends to invest up to $ 10 billion . There have already been other candidates to get their hands on this project. It should be noted that the Japanese games market has enormous potential to sell and may well become a major competitor for other countries such as South Korea or Macau, which is still in deep difficulty today.
